Mamá Tingo

The Mama Tingo Early Childhood Education Center is a comprehensive, high quality, early childhood program that addresses the needs of  pregnant women, infants and toddlers (ages 0-3) and their families in the Washington Heights and Inwood neighborhoods in Manhattan.  The Mama Tingo Early Childhood Education Center provides:

  • Educational Support
  • Health Support
  • Social Service Support
  • Nutritional Services
  • Special Need and Disability Services

This program was named in honor of Florinda Soriano, affectionally known as Mama Tingo, a Dominican Woman peasant, mother of 14 children, who was assassinated by a large landowner in 1974 fighting for her piece of land in the Dominican Republic.  She has become a national symbol of female courage, strength, and resistance.
