Mental Health Consultant - Mamá Tingó Early Childhood Education Center

Job Summary: 
Under the direction of the Health Services Coordinator, the Mental Health Consultant assesses the emotional development of children, staff and parents by providing training and information on mental health. Assist in the development and implementation of specific plans for children with special needs, including participation in child’s IEP/IFSP, if indicated.

Qualifications:

LCSW or LMSW/LMHC with at least 2 years of experience. Experience with working with ACS preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assessment of mental health history.
  • Assessment and determination whether the client is experiencing mental health decompensation.
  • Consultation on problem assessment and identification, Case investigation, case planning and/or case management, with client advocacy.
  • Recommendations will be made during the development of the client’s service plan and follow up with the caseworkers regularly on and off-site.
  • Perform training sessions for child welfare staff to assist families assigned to the clinical consultation team, such as Assessment of addiction, physical and psychological effects of drugs/alcohol on the body; co-occurring disorders (medical, mental, addiction), mental health issues, impact on the family; the impact of addiction, mental health, and domestic violence on the family systems, effective service planning, care coordination within in the community, levels of care referrals, early childhood development issues that impact normal development, signs, indication, and/or evidence of domestic violence in the home.
